The First of Spring: English Delft Snowdrop Blue Gloss Tile

Hand-decorated delftware-inspired ceramic in cobalt blue on a soft white ground — English Delft Snowdrop Blue Gloss Tile from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Nodding snowdrops are hand-painted with a light touch, bringing the first quiet note of spring to the glaze. Each 13 x 13cm tile is glazed and painted by hand, so no two are quite alike — the gentle variation in line and tone is the signature of a genuinely decorated tile.

The English Delft range revives the blue-and-white delftware tradition that travelled from the Low Countries to English potteries centuries ago. Use a single motif as a repeat, or mix motifs with the plain base and corner tiles to compose a bespoke panel behind a range, a basin or a fireplace.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix to a sound, dry, level background with a quality wall-tile adhesive, and finish with a grout in a soft, tonal shade.
  • Layout Options: Set out with a 2mm joint. Shuffle tiles from several boxes to enjoy the natural hand-painted variation, and frame a motif panel with the plain base and corner pieces.
  • Cleaning: Wipe with warm water and a mild cleaner. The glazed surface needs no sealing.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How many tiles do I need?

The English Delft Snowdrop tiles are sold individually, requiring 59 tiles to cover 1m². To ensure you have enough for cuts and layout matching, we recommend ordering an additional 10% on top of your room measurements.

Can this tile be used as a kitchen splashback or in a shower?

Yes. These glazed wall tiles are highly suited for use on bathroom walls, shower enclosures, and as beautiful kitchen splashbacks. They are also suitable for use around hearths and fireplaces (provided they are at least 30cm from the direct heat source).

Do these tiles need to be sealed?

No. The high-quality gloss glaze provides a permanent, non-porous barrier against moisture and staining, meaning tile sealing is not necessary for this product.
