Northern Calm: Weymouth Alaskan Oak

Bring the serene beauty of frozen landscapes into your home with Weymouth Alaskan Oak—a next-generation waterproof floor that combines the cool elegance of grey oak with ultimate durability.

Part of Woodpecker's premium Weymouth collection, this floor is crafted from a rigid Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) core, making it 100% waterproof and incredibly stable. Inspired by the Nordic outdoors, the design features a cool grey hue with crisp icy highlights and authentic saw-mark detailing. The "LiveTouch" surface embossing follows the grain perfectly, making it difficult to distinguish from real timber, yet it stands up to splashes, spills, and busy family life with ease.

Installation & care

⚠️ Installation & Benefits

  • 100% Waterproof: The mineral-resin core creates a seal that water cannot penetrate, making it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and utility rooms.
  • Built-In Underlay: Each plank comes with a high-performance underlay attached. Do not use extra underlay (except a moisture barrier on concrete if needed), as this can damage the locking system.
  • Easiloc Joint: The DIY-friendly click system allows you to float the floor without glue. Simply score, snap, and click the planks together.
  • Surface Durability: Rated AC4 for heavy domestic use. The 0.5mm wear layer is scratch-resistant and pet-friendly, ideal for high-traffic hallways.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is this real wood or laminate?

Neither. This is a premium Wood Design (SPC) floor. It uses a rigid mineral-composite core topped with a high-definition vinyl layer. This makes it more durable than laminate and 100% waterproof, unlike real wood.

Does it look realistic?

Yes. Woodpecker uses "LiveTouch" embossing technology. This means the texture you feel on the surface matches the grain and saw marks you see in the design, creating an incredibly authentic wood look

Can I use this in a bathroom?

Absolutely. Because it contains no wood fibers, it will not swell or warp when exposed to moisture, making it the perfect choice for bathrooms and en-suites.

Do I need to buy underlay?

No. Weymouth planks come with a built-in underlay already attached to the back. Using additional foam underlay is not recommended as it can make the floor too soft and damage the click joints.

Is it suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, the stone-composite core is very stable and transfers heat efficiently. It is safe for use with water-based UFH systems (up to 27°C surface temperature).
