To protect the tiles from moisture penetration and staining, you must seal them using a high-quality Crackle Glaze Protector before grouting, and once more after installation.

The Preen collection is manufactured using a specialist, raku-style reactive glaze in small batches. This artisanal technique means the glaze pools and reacts uniquely on every single piece during firing. Considerable variation between batches and individual tiles is fully expected and is precisely what gives this collection its beautiful, custom-made character.

Because crackle glazes are inherently porous and can absorb water if not perfectly maintained, they are generally recommended for dry interior walls and kitchen splashbacks rather than areas subjected to constant, heavy water flow like a direct shower enclosure. If used in a bathroom, they are best suited for decorative feature walls away from direct water contact.

To make installation as straightforward as possible, the small, feather-shaped porcelain pieces are pre-mounted onto flexible 30.5x30cm mesh sheets. Your tiler can easily apply the sheets directly to the wall, and the interlocking edges of the sheets will seamlessly hide the joins, creating a continuous, sweeping pattern.
