Hearth tiles are floor-rated, heat-tolerant tiles used on the base of a fireplace — beneath and in front of a stove or open fire. They protect the floor from heat and embers while giving the fireplace a decorative anchor.
Can tiles handle the heat of a log burner?
Yes — dense porcelain, slate and quarry tiles all cope well with the radiant heat a stove produces. Use a heat-rated adhesive and grout, and follow building regulations on hearth dimensions and clearances for your appliance.
