Are the Ca'Pietra California tiles suitable for floors?

Yes. The California collection is crafted from highly durable porcelain, making it structurally suitable for interior floors in domestic and light commercial settings. However, because they feature a high-gloss polished finish (with an R9 slip rating), they are best suited to dry living areas and low-traffic zones rather than wet room floors where slip resistance is a priority.

Do these onyx-effect porcelain tiles require sealing?

No. Unlike genuine natural onyx or marble, which are porous and require regular, careful maintenance, the California tiles are made from glazed porcelain. They are completely non-absorbent and do not require any specialist sealing before or after installation.

Can I use the California collection in a shower enclosure?

Absolutely. The non-porous nature of the porcelain makes it completely water-resistant, and the smooth, polished surface is incredibly easy to wipe clean. This makes the collection a spectacular choice for creating a luxurious, spa-like feature wall inside a shower or wet room.

Can I install these large-format tiles with underfloor heating?

Yes. Porcelain is a superb thermal conductor. The entire California collection is fully compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems, ensuring your grand spaces remain warm and comfortable throughout the year.

How should the 60x120cm tiles be laid?

Due to the manufacturing process of large-format porcelain, there can be a slight, natural "bow" in the center of the tiles. To minimise any "lipping" (where one edge sits slightly higher than the adjacent tile), it is highly recommended to lay them either in a straight stack (joints aligned square) or staggered by no more than one-third of the tile length, rather than a traditional 50:50 brick-bond pattern.
