30×60cm Tile FAQs

Are 30×60cm tiles suitable for floors?
Yes — choose a floor-rated 30×60cm porcelain or stone tile with an appropriate slip rating, especially in bathrooms and wet areas. Each product lists its suitability, and our team can advise.

Do larger 30×60cm tiles have fewer grout lines?
Yes — a larger format means fewer joints, giving a calmer, more seamless finish that makes a room feel bigger. A suitable substrate and adhesive are important for large tiles; our team can advise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I work out how many tiles I need?

Measure the area you're tiling in square metres (length x width), then add around 10% for cuts and wastage — a little more for diagonal layouts or rooms with lots of cuts. Tiles are usually sold by the square metre or by the box, so divide your total area by the coverage per box and round up to whole boxes. Our team is always happy to check your measurements and quantities before you order.

Is this tile size right for my room?

As a general guide, larger formats such as 60 x 60cm and above make a space feel more open and seamless with fewer grout lines, and suit medium-to-large floors, while smaller formats and mosaics give more grip and flexibility in compact areas, splashbacks and shower floors. There's no hard rule, though — it's about the look you want, and we're happy to advise for your specific space.

Can these tiles be used on both walls and floors?

Many can, but it depends on the individual tile rather than the size alone — a tile's suitability for floors, walls or wet areas is set by its material, finish and slip rating. Each product page confirms where a tile can be used; if you'd like to run one tile across both walls and floor, just ask and we'll point you to the right options.

What are the benefits of large-format tiles?

Large-format tiles create a calm, contemporary look with fewer grout joints, which makes a room feel bigger and is easier to keep clean. They work beautifully on floors and feature walls. They do need a flat, well-prepared substrate and are heavier to handle, so for the largest formats we'd recommend an experienced tiler using a back-buttering technique for full adhesion.

Should I order extra tiles for the future?

It's a sensible idea. Ordering a little extra from the same batch means you'll have matching tiles on hand for any future repairs or alterations, since colours and finishes can vary slightly between production runs. We'd suggest keeping a few spare tiles from your delivery, and our team can advise on the right amount for your project.

Can I order a sample before I commit?

Yes — colour, finish and scale are best judged in your own room and light. We offer free cut samples to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted for a small postage charge, and you're very welcome to visit the showroom to see full tiles in person and talk your project through with our team.

30 x 60cm Floor Tiles

Our 30 x 60cm floor tiles are a practical, hard-working rectangular format — large enough to lay quickly and feel contemporary, yet easy to handle and ideal for brick-bond and offset layouts. A dependable choice for kitchens, utilities, bathrooms and hallways.

A Versatile Rectangular Format

The 2:1 proportions of a 30 x 60cm tile lend themselves to classic brick-bond and offset patterns, adding subtle movement to a floor. It's a manageable size for most tilers, suits rooms of all shapes, and works equally well in wood-effect, stone-effect and plain finishes.

Using 30 x 60cm Tiles on Floors

Floor suitability depends on the individual tile's material, finish and slip rating, shown on each product page. Porcelain in this size is especially popular for floors thanks to its strength and low maintenance, and we're happy to point you to slip-rated options for wet areas.
