Product story
Small-Scale Ornament, Deepened By The Glaze
Ornament at a domestic scale: 152 x 29mm of scrolled relief under a rich mid-blue gloss, in the Artworks Windsor Blue Scroll Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
The Scroll is a slim ornamental moulding, 29mm across, with a scrolled figure modelled into the face and repeating along the length of each piece. It belongs to the tradition of finishing a panel or a border with a light decorative profile — ornament chosen at the scale of a room rather than a hall, worked in the ceramic itself rather than applied to it.
Because the figure is modelled rather than printed, the glaze does the drawing. Where the surface turns inward the gloss pools a little deeper, and the blue with it, so the recesses of the scroll come up darker than the raised curves and the pattern reads as a shift in tone rather than as an outline. The range that shift depends on comes from the colour itself: Windsor Blue holds its depth right down into the smallest recess, with no pull towards warm or cool to distort it. It sits well as a border to a panel of field tiles, as the cap to a half-height run, or as a decorative line set high in a bathroom.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Use a white flexible adhesive. The grout choice is a real one here. White is the blue-and-white convention and gives a crisp, graphic result, at the price of showing every joint and demanding accurate setting-out. A soft mid-grey, slightly lighter in tone than the glaze, is the discreet alternative and lets the colour carry the wall. What to avoid is a warm beige or greige — it turns a clean mid-blue murky. Keep grout out of the scroll’s recesses and clean back before it goes off, then lift any haze from the surface while it is damp.
- Layout: Dry-lay a few pieces first to see how the scrolled figure sits over the length you have, then set the run out from that. If the run turns an outside corner, that job belongs to the external corner trim: 30mm wide, 152mm long and four to the box, giving a glazed return.
- Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
