Product story
A Running Wave Along the Wall
At 152 x 29mm, the Jet Black Scroll Moulding is a gloss ceramic Artworks section with a running wave along its face, four per box, purchased from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
A vitruvian scroll, the running wave of Greek and Roman cornices, is modelled along the 29mm face, each curl breaking into the next without a pause. The figure to hold in your head is 6.6 pieces to the metre, so a 4.5-metre run comes to 30 pieces, and 30 pieces is eight boxes.
The wave is a series of curls and every curl is a small hollow with a raised lip. Under this glaze the lips take a bright line and the hollows stay black, so the ornament resolves into a chain of highlights and shadows, and the chain reorders itself the moment you shift your position. Fixed above worktop level in a kitchen, or as a single course dividing two fields of tile, it puts a line on the wall that is never quite the same twice in a day.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Comb a flexible adhesive out thinly and keep the wave lining through, since a broken repeat is the one thing that spoils a scroll. Keep the joint dark and the wave rolls along uncounted; take the joint to brilliant white and the wave is ruled off at every piece. Mid grey is the tone that flattens the wave. Sponge each curl out while the grout is soft, then go over the run once more before it dries.
- Layout: Lay a whole box out on the floor and see which way the curls face before deciding which end of the wall to start from. Fix to a chalk line and check level every four pieces.
- Cleaning: There is nothing to seal; the gloss glaze is non-porous. Warm water and a mild detergent will do it. Abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers should be avoided, as both will flatten the shine over the years.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
