Cool Coastal Elegance: Stonehaven Strait Oak

Capture the serene beauty of the shoreline with Stonehaven Strait Oak—an engineered wood floor that washes your home in cool, contemporary waves of grey and silver.

Part of the wide-plank Stonehaven collection, Strait Oak is designed for the modern interior. Inspired by weathered driftwood found along the coast, the planks feature a sophisticated palette of soft greys and pale misty hues. The Rustic grade ensures the floor retains its organic soul, with natural knots and grain patterns visible through the finish. To preserve these cool tones and provide maximum durability, the floor is finished with a Matt Lacquer, creating a low-sheen, highly protective surface.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is the wear layer?

It features a 3mm solid oak wear layer on top of a 11mm engineered plywood core. This provides the look and longevity of solid oak with superior stability against temperature changes.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes, Woodpecker Flooring provides an exceptional 100-year warranty on this product, covering the structural integrity of the planks for a lifetime.

Can I use this in a kitchen?

Yes, engineered oak is suitable for kitchens due to its stability. The UV Oil finish provides good resistance to spills, though liquids should always be wiped up immediately to prevent staining.

Is the colour grey or natural oak?

Stonehaven Strait Oak is a contemporary grey floor. It has "washed" silver and mist-grey tones that sit over the natural oak grain, creating a cool, modern aesthetic often described as "driftwood."

What is "Matt Lacquered"?

Unlike oil, which penetrates the wood, lacquer sits on top to create a protective seal. A Matt lacquer has a very low sheen, meaning you get the natural, dry look of raw wood with the superior durability and stain resistance of a varnish.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes, very. Because it is lacquered, dirt and spills do not penetrate the wood easily. Regular sweeping and a damp (not wet) mop with a suitable wood floor cleaner is all that is required.

Installation & Care Tips

⚠️ Installation & care

  • Installation Method: This T&G board is versatile: float it over underlay (glued joints), nail it to a timber subfloor, or fully stick it down to the screed.
  • Underfloor Heating: Compatible with UFH. To ensure the best board stability and thermal transfer, we strictly recommend the glue-down method.
  • Matt Lacquer Benefits: The lacquer creates a tough seal on the surface. This makes the floor easier to clean and more resistant to liquid spills than an oiled floor, perfect for households with pets or children.
  • Acclimatisation: Ensure the packs are stored flat in the installation room for 3-4 days prior to fitting.
