Honed Limestone, Without the Upkeep: Sloane Porcelain Honed Cream

A warm, softly sheened porcelain that replicates genuinely honed limestone — fossil markings, subtle veining and all — now stocked in two formats, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Ca' Pietra stockist.

Sloane is mechanically honed in exactly the way its stone counterpart would be, which is why it reads as limestone rather than as a photograph of it. In Cream the tone is gently warm rather than grey, which sits beautifully with oak, brass and painted timber in a period house.

What it does not carry is the maintenance. As a rectified, fully vitrified porcelain it needs no sealing, resists frost, and shrugs off the traffic of a busy hallway or kitchen — the look of a period stone floor with none of the anxiety.

Choose the format to suit the room. The 90 x 90cm gives far fewer grout lines and reads as a calm, expansive floor, which flatters large kitchens, garden rooms and long hallways. The 60 x 60cm is lighter to handle and cuts more economically in smaller or awkward spaces. Both share the same honed surface and 9mm body, so they can even be used together across adjoining rooms.

The Hyperion Family Promise

  • Design Continuity - Sloane Porcelain is available in White and Cream, in Honed and Textured finishes and now in two formats, so a scheme can be scaled room by room without changing tile.
  • Premium Durability - Rectified, fully vitrified porcelain with under 0.5% water absorption, frost resistance, A1 fire rating and a breaking strength above 1300N.
  • Order a Sample - Free cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted to your door for the cost of postage.
  • Dedicated Delivery - We arrange safe, secure delivery for your project, with free UK delivery on orders over £1,000.
  • Personalised Project Support - Our family-run team can help you calculate quantities: the 60 x 60cm is 3 tiles per box covering 1.08m², the 90 x 90cm is 2 tiles per box covering 1.62m².

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Adhesive & Grout: Use a white flexible porcelain adhesive with a pale grout — on a light honed surface, a dark grout will read as a grid and undo the stone effect.
  • Layout: Rectified edges allow a tight 2mm joint. Shuffle tiles from several boxes so the veining and fossil detail distribute naturally. Allow around 10% for cuts.
  • Large format: The 90 x 90cm is less forgiving of an uneven substrate, so make sure the floor is flat before you begin. Back-butter for full solid-bed coverage and use levelling clips to avoid lippage. At roughly 15kg a tile, it is a two-person lift.
  • Cleaning: No sealing required. Warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid acidic or abrasive products, which will dull the honed sheen over time.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sloane real limestone?

No — it is porcelain, but mechanically honed in the same way stone is, which is why it carries a genuine soft sheen and fossil detail rather than a printed finish. You get the look of honed limestone with none of the sealing or staining.

Should I choose the 60 x 60cm or the 90 x 90cm?

Both are stocked and carry exactly the same honed surface and 9mm body, so it is purely a question of scale. The 90 x 90cm gives far fewer grout lines and reads as a calmer, more expansive floor, which flatters large open rooms, kitchens and long hallways. The 60 x 60cm is lighter to handle, cuts more economically in smaller or awkward rooms, and is the easier of the two for one person to lay. Order a free cut sample of each if you are undecided.

How many Sloane tiles are in a box?

That depends on the format. The 60 x 60cm is supplied three tiles to a box covering 1.08m²; the 90 x 90cm is two tiles to a box covering 1.62m². Measure your area, add about 10% for cuts, then divide by the coverage of whichever format you have chosen.

Is there anything to watch when laying the 90 x 90cm format?

Large formats are less forgiving of an uneven substrate, so the floor should be flat and properly prepared before tiling begins — any dip shows up as lippage across a 90cm edge. Use a good quality flexible porcelain adhesive, back-butter each tile for full solid-bed coverage with no voids, and consider a levelling clip system to keep the surface true. Each tile weighs around 15kg, so it is a two-person lift. Our team is happy to talk it through before you order.

What is the difference between the Honed and Textured finishes?

Honed is the smooth, softly sheened interior finish shown here. The Textured version has a rougher R11 surface intended for wet areas and outdoor use — useful if you want the same stone look to run from a kitchen out onto a terrace.
