Iridescent Colour Shift: Futura Dichroic Glass Hexagon Mosaic

A dichroic glass hexagon mosaic that shifts through iridescent blues, greens and soft greys as the light moves, from Hyperion Tiles.

Part of our Futura glass mosaic family, this mesh-mounted hexagon sheet is made from dichroic glass — a specialist coating that reflects one colour and transmits another, so the wall appears to change tone as you move past it. The result is a quietly theatrical, jewel-like surface that never sits still.

Made from non-porous glass, the tiles are light-reflective, moisture-resistant and simple to wipe clean. Supplied on mesh-backed sheets, the interlocking hexagon format keeps setting-out straightforward, even around sockets and awkward corners.

The Hyperion Family Promise

  • Design Continuity — Futura coordinates across dichroic, zirconia and sepia hexagon mosaics for a considered, joined-up scheme
  • Premium Durability — non-porous glass that wipes clean and resists moisture
  • Order a Sample — free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted for a small postage charge
  • Dedicated Delivery — free UK delivery on orders over £1,000
  • Personalised Project Support — sold per sheet (approx. 0.057m² per sheet, six sheets per box); our team will help you calculate quantities

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Adhesive — always fix with a WHITE glass tile adhesive; grey adhesive shows through the translucent glass and dulls the colour shift
  • Edges — sheets are mesh-backed for straightforward alignment; take care with cut or exposed edges and finish them with a matching trim
  • Where to use — non-porous and wipe-clean; ideal for kitchen splashbacks, shower and bathroom walls and other wet areas
  • Cleaning — wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How are glass mosaic sheets installed?

The individual chips come pre-mounted on a mesh or paper backing, so you fix a whole sheet at a time rather than placing each piece. Comb white glass-rated adhesive onto the wall, bed the sheet in, and tamp it flat with a grout float.

The important part is the joins. Keep the gap between sheets exactly the same as the gaps between chips within a sheet, otherwise the grid lines will be visible as stripes across the finished wall once it is grouted.

Can glass mosaic be used on a shower floor?

Yes, and it is one of the better choices for a shower tray or wet room floor. The high number of grout joints across the surface gives significantly more grip than a large flat tile.

Mosaic sheets are also easy to work into a fall towards the drain because the mesh backing flexes. For a shower floor, use a waterproof or epoxy grout and confirm the fall and waterproofing details with your installer.

Do glass mosaic sheets need to be cut?

Usually far less than a standard tile. You can often cut the mesh backing with a utility knife between chips to fit a sheet to length, which avoids cutting glass altogether.

Where you do need a part chip, score and snap it with a glass cutter or use mosaic nippers. Because the cut edges are small and mostly hidden in the grout joint, mosaic is a forgiving format for awkward or non-square spaces.

Will the finished wall look like the sample?

Glass mosaic is usually a deliberate blend of several tones, so a single small sample shows the palette but not the rhythm of the whole wall. Colour is also affected by the light in your room and by the grout you choose.

For this reason we recommend a free cut sample, and where possible laying two or three sheets out together before you commit. You are also welcome to see the full sheets in our Ascot showroom.

How many sheets of this size do I need per square metre?

At 289 x 275 x 8mm, each sheet covers roughly 0.0795m², which works out at about 12.58 sheets per square metre.

To work out your order: multiply the height by the width of each area you are tiling to get the total square metres, multiply that figure by 12.58, then round up to the nearest full sheet. Add 10% on top for cuts and breakages.

If you would rather not do the sums, send us the dimensions of your space and we will confirm the quantity — and if you are close to a box quantity we will tell you, as it is often cheaper to take the full box. Free cut samples are available, and you are welcome to see the range in our Ascot showroom.
