Product story
The Same Skyline, Seen After Dark
The Black Manhattan Border is 152 x 50 x 7mm, its stepped skyline worked in real gold and real platinum on a black ceramic ground, supplied one piece at a time, nine to the box, and it goes out from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
One piece covers 152mm of run, so six of them lay a little over 900mm, and a 1.2 metre band takes eight — 1.2 multiplied by 6.6 gives 7.92, rounded up. Nine travel in a box, though you buy them one by one. The stepped drawing itself is the same as the version on Brilliant White; only the ground beneath it has changed, and that alters nearly everything about how the border is read.
On black there is nothing behind the metal competing for attention, so gold and platinum become the only things to look at and the band turns into a line of light rather than a decorated stripe. This is Deco at its most literal: metal, black and a stepped geometric repeat, precisely the palette the style was assembled from. It belongs with a black-and-white floor, with brass or chrome fittings, and in rooms where the lighting has been designed rather than merely fitted — a cloakroom with one good wall light, a shower room lit from above, the wall behind a bar.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Bed on white flexible adhesive but joint in a dark grey or a black-toned grout, so the band carries on unbroken instead of being chopped into segments by pale lines. Here the care warning is physical rather than chemical: the metal stands slightly proud of the glaze, which means a scouring pad reaches it before it reaches anything else, and an acidic limescale spray attacks it first for the same reason. Warm water, mild detergent, soft cloth.
- Layout: Dry lay a complete run on the floor and look at it from standing height, because a stepped repeat behaves quite differently at three metres than it does at arm's length. Then check the sequence: the steps must travel in the same direction from piece to piece, and one reversed piece in a long band is glaring once the wall is finished.
- Cleaning: There is nothing to seal; the gloss glaze is non-porous. Warm water and a mild detergent will do it. Abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers should be avoided, as both will flatten the shine over the years.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
