Overlapping Ovals, Endlessly Repeated

Four black arcs meeting at the edges to build a quatrefoil once the tiles are laid together, each square 151mm and bought individually, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Bavaria is the one Primo square that will not show you its pattern on its own. Each tile carries arcs that run off all four sides, and the quatrefoil only appears where four tiles meet. A single sample therefore looks like a fragment, because it is one.

Laid out properly the effect is an unbroken chain of overlapping ovals travelling across the whole floor, with no tile obviously the beginning of anything. Of the black-and-white designs it is the one that behaves best over a large area, because nothing about it draws attention to any single tile. Format is 151mm square by nine millimetres, so a single face covers 0.0228m². Original Style box them in fifteens. The coverage figure they publish is 43 tiles per square metre.

Returns

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Installation & care

Adhesive & Grout: Fix on white flexible adhesive. Keep the grout light, because Original Style allow nothing darker than a light grey on Primo, and the arcs will still carry through the joints instead of stopping at every tile edge.
Layout: Setting-out is critical: the pattern completes across four tiles, so a row that drifts by a couple of millimetres will break every oval along it.
Cleaning: Mild detergent in warm water. Where the arcs cross a joint, a soft brush along the grout line keeps the continuity of the drawing visible. Apply sealer before grouting. Repeat it once the grout residue has been lifted, which is what Original Style recommend for this range.
