Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ca'Pietra Dorset tiles suitable for bathroom floors?

Yes. The Dorset collection is crafted from highly durable porcelain, making it structurally suitable for interior floors in domestic and light commercial settings. The tiles feature an R9 slip rating, which provides a safe level of traction for residential use, including bathrooms, kitchens, and hallways.

Do these stone-effect porcelain tiles require sealing?

No. Unlike genuine natural sandstone, which is highly porous and requires regular sealing to prevent stains and water damage, the Dorset tiles are made from glazed porcelain. They are completely non-absorbent and do not require any specialist sealing before or after installation.

Can I use the Dorset collection in a shower enclosure?

Absolutely. The non-porous nature of the porcelain makes it completely water-resistant, and the smooth, satin surface is incredibly easy to wipe clean. This makes the collection a highly practical and beautiful choice for shower walls and bathroom splashbacks.

Can I install these large-format tiles with underfloor heating?

Yes. Porcelain is a superb thermal conductor. The entire Dorset collection is fully compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems, ensuring your stone-effect floors remain wonderfully warm and comfortable throughout the year.

What is the best laying pattern for the larger tiles?

Due to the manufacturing process of large-format porcelain (such as the 60x120cm size), there can be a slight, natural "bow" in the center of the tiles. To minimize any "lipping" (where one edge sits slightly higher than the adjacent tile), it is highly recommended to lay them either in a straight stack (joints aligned square) or staggered by no more than one-third of the tile length, rather than a traditional 50:50 brick-bond pattern.

Coastal Stone Inspiration

The Ca'Pietra Dorset porcelain collection takes its design cues from the sweeping sandstone cliffs of the English south coast. By utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques, these tiles feature a hyper-realistic print that captures the swirling, organic movements and subtle colour variations found in genuine natural stone. This creates an incredibly inviting, calming atmosphere, allowing you to bring a touch of the outdoors into your home without the maintenance associated with real porous stone.

A Versatile Palette and Finish

To ensure the collection complements a wide variety of design schemes, the Dorset range is available in three carefully considered, neutral colourways: Beige, Grey, and White. Whether you are aiming to create a warm, inviting rustic kitchen with the Beige tiles, or a crisp, contemporary bathroom with the White and Grey options, the collection provides a highly versatile foundation. Each tile is finished with a smooth satin glaze that diffuses light softly and enhances the tactile appeal of the surface.

Seamless Large Format Design

The Dorset collection is designed to help you create grand, uninterrupted spaces. Available in multiple sizes—including the impressive 60x120cm and 80x80cm slabs—these tiles feature precision rectified edges. This allows your tiler to install them using very narrow grout joints, which minimizes visual breaks and makes small rooms feel much larger. To achieve the best possible finish with these large-format tiles, it is recommended to lay them either in a straight square stack or staggered by no more than one-third of the tile length.
