Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ca'Pietra Spitalfields Ceramic tiles suitable for floors?

Yes. Crafted from high-quality ceramic, the Spitalfields Retro collection is structurally sound for both domestic and light commercial interior floors. The matt finish provides a fantastic PTV+36 slip rating, making them a safe and highly practical choice for demanding areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and busy hallways.

What does a "pre-scored" tile mean?

A pre-scored tile is manufactured with a shallow groove cut into the surface. The 45x45cm Spitalfields tiles feature a cross-shaped score line. Once you lay the large tile, your installer simply spreads grout into these grooves just as they would with the normal tile joints. This creates the highly convincing illusion of four smaller tiles, saving significant time and effort during installation.

Do these patterned ceramic tiles require sealing?

No. The Spitalfields Ceramic Retro tiles are manufactured with a fully glazed surface that acts as a permanent, non-absorbent barrier against moisture and stains. They require absolutely no specialist sealing treatments either before or after installation, ensuring they are incredibly easy to maintain.

Can I install these tiles with underfloor heating?

While ceramic is generally compatible with underfloor heating, we highly recommend consulting with your installer and using an appropriate anti-fracture matting and flexible adhesive to ensure the system works effectively with the 0.95cm thickness of the tile.

How do I clean and maintain the matt finish?

Routine maintenance is wonderfully simple. Sweep the floor regularly to remove loose dust or grit, and clean with a damp mop using a mild, pH-neutral household floor cleaner. Avoid using harsh, abrasive chemicals or scouring pads to preserve the beautiful printed pattern and matt finish.

London-Inspired Rustic Charm

The Ca'Pietra Spitalfields Ceramic collection perfectly encapsulates the blending of two distinct worlds: the sleek, modern energy of the City of London and the historic, characterful charm of the East End. The Retro Star pattern brings an undeniable sense of heritage to any space, perfectly complementing interiors that embrace a traditional, vintage, or rustic aesthetic. Their understated elegance makes them a versatile addition to any room, offering a refined balance of bold design and everyday practicality.

Ingenious Pre-Scored Format

What truly sets the Spitalfields Retro collection apart is its highly intelligent design. While they boast the intricate, traditional look of small-format patterned tiles, they are actually manufactured in a much larger, easier-to-install 45x45cm format. Each tile features a clever pre-scored grid line. Once the tiles are laid, these grooves are simply filled with your chosen grout, instantly giving the flawless appearance of four smaller tiles with a fraction of the labour and installation time.

Durable Ceramic Practicality

Designed for demanding internal use, the Spitalfields Ceramic tiles stand up effortlessly to the rigours of modern living. Manufactured with a durable matt finish and an excellent PTV+36 slip rating, they provide a safe, secure footing even in wet conditions. Because they are made from fully glazed ceramic, they naturally repel moisture, dirt, and everyday spills, requiring absolutely no specialist sealing. They are the ultimate low-maintenance, high-impact choice for bustling family kitchens, hallways, and luxurious bathrooms.
