Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ca'Pietra Southdown tiles suitable for bathroom floors?

Yes. Crafted from robust porcelain, the Southdown collection is structurally sound for interior floors. The satin finish provides an R9 slip rating, making them a highly practical and elegant option for domestic bathroom floors and wet rooms.

What does a "rectified" edge mean?

The Southdown tiles feature rectified edges, which means they have been mechanically cut or ground to an exact, precise size after the firing process. This uniformity allows the tiles to be installed with exceptionally narrow grout lines (typically around 2mm), resulting in a much cleaner, seamless, and highly contemporary finish across your floor or wall.

Do these stone-effect porcelain tiles require sealing?

No. Unlike authentic natural stone, which is highly porous and susceptible to staining, the Southdown tiles are manufactured from fully glazed, non-absorbent porcelain. They act as a permanent barrier against moisture and require absolutely no specialist sealing treatments either before or after installation.

Can I install these tiles with underfloor heating?

Absolutely. Porcelain acts as a superb thermal conductor. The entire Southdown collection will efficiently absorb heat and release it slowly, making it fully compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems. This ensures your luxurious stone-effect floors remain wonderfully warm and comfortable throughout the colder months.

Are there outdoor options available in this collection?

Yes. The Southdown collection includes a dedicated textured porcelain paving option specifically designed for exterior use. This allows you to effortlessly carry the beautiful, creamy stone effect from your interior kitchen or conservatory out onto your garden patio, creating a spectacular, seamless indoor-outdoor living space.

Timeless Aged-Stone Inspiration

The Ca'Pietra Southdown Porcelain collection is expertly designed for those who desire the pinnacle of understated elegance. This collection meticulously captures the essence of classic, time-worn stone, presenting a beautiful cream-grey hue that acts as a highly versatile, neutral canvas. This soft, creamy background provides a wonderfully luminous foundation that blends seamlessly with both modern minimalist schemes and highly traditional interior aesthetics, offering endless design flexibility.

Versatile Formats for Complete Freedom

To ensure your space feels expansive and uninterrupted, the Southdown collection is manufactured in classic 60x60cm squares and grand 60x120cm rectangular formats. These generous proportions naturally draw the eye outward, making both large, open-plan living areas and smaller bathrooms feel grander and more sophisticated. Furthermore, the tiles are precision rectified, allowing your tiler to install them with incredibly narrow grout joints for a beautifully seamless flow.

Durable, Zero-Maintenance Porcelain

While genuine aged stone is notoriously porous and requires rigorous specialist maintenance, the Southdown collection provides the exact same visual impact using high-density, 9mm thick porcelain. Completely resistant to moisture, everyday stains, and humidity, these tiles require absolutely no sealing. With a refined satin finish offering an R9 slip rating, they are a phenomenally practical and stylish choice for demanding environments, from luxurious wet rooms and bustling kitchens to heavy-traffic hallways.
