Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ca'Pietra Sardinia Porcelain tiles suitable for shower floors?

Yes. Crafted from high-quality porcelain, the Sardinia collection is structurally perfect for interior floors. The satin finish provides an excellent R10 slip rating, which offers a safe level of traction underfoot. This makes them a highly practical and colourful option for bathroom floors, shower enclosures, and wet rooms.

Do these patterned porcelain tiles require sealing?

No. Unlike genuine traditional clay or encaustic cement tiles, which are highly porous and susceptible to staining, the Sardinia porcelain tiles act as a permanent, non-absorbent barrier against moisture. They require absolutely no specialist sealing treatments either before or after installation.

Can I install these tiles with underfloor heating?

Absolutely. Porcelain is an exceptional thermal conductor. The entire Sardinia collection will efficiently absorb heat and release it slowly into the room, making it fully compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems.

What colour grout is recommended for the Sardinia collection?

Your choice of grout can significantly impact the final look. We highly recommend using a darker grout (such as an iron grey or mid-grey tone) rather than a bright white. A darker grout will better preserve the integrity of the rustic, vintage design and beautifully frame the vibrant Mediterranean patterns without distracting from them.

How do I clean and maintain the satin finish?

Because the porcelain naturally repels water and dirt, maintenance is incredibly straightforward. Simply sweep the floor regularly to remove abrasive grit, and clean with a damp mop using a mild, pH-neutral household cleaner. Everyday spills and splashes can be easily wiped away to keep the intricate patterns looking pristine.

Italian Maiolica Inspiration

The Ca'Pietra Sardinia Porcelain collection serves as a vibrant celebration of Italian craftsmanship. Deeply inspired by the historic Maiolica tiles found in palaces and grand hotels across the Mediterranean, these tiles perfectly capture the essence of traditional, finely hand-painted art. The intricate, rustic patterns bring a profound sense of heritage and artisanal character to contemporary homes, allowing you to create a highly expressive, colourful foundation that never goes out of style.

Four Distinct Multi-Coloured Patterns

To ensure your interior truly reflects your personal taste, the Sardinia collection is available in four beautifully curated designs: Tarricone, Dragonetti, Gioia, and Masseria. Each 20x20cm square tile acts as an individual canvas, featuring a rich tapestry of vibrant blues, earthy terracotta, and classic Mediterranean hues. You can use a single pattern to create a cohesive, sweeping floor, or introduce them as highly decorative focal points and feature walls within a more neutral design scheme.

Modern Porcelain Practicality

While it boasts the traditional, rustic appearance of historic clay tiles, the Sardinia collection (formerly known as Majorca) is manufactured from high-density, modern porcelain. These durable tiles are completely non-porous, naturally resistant to everyday stains, and require absolutely no specialist sealing. Furthermore, the tactile satin finish provides a highly practical R10 slip rating, ensuring these tiles are an incredibly safe, low-maintenance, and stylish choice for demanding wet environments like family bathrooms and bustling kitchens.
