Slate in Miniature: Ardesia Gris Mosaic 30x30cm

Carry the Ardesia slate into places a large tile cannot go with the Gris 5x5cm mosaic from Hyperion Tiles.

The same riven slate face as the Ardesia Gris field tile — the cool blue-grey of a Welsh roof — cut down to 5cm chips and mesh-mounted on a 30 x 30cm sheet. That small module is what lets you take the stone somewhere the 32 x 62.5cm tile simply will not follow: a shower floor with a fall to the gully, a curved step, a niche, a bench return.

Frostproof glazed porcelain, F4 rated for heavy domestic traffic, suitable for internal walls and floors and external walls. Because it shares the Gris tone exactly, it can run as a shower floor beneath Ardesia Gris walls without a break in the stone.

Installation & care

Adhesive & Grout: Use a high-quality flexible adhesive suitable for porcelain. On a shower floor the adhesive and grout should be rated for constant wetting, and the falls must be formed in the screed before you tile — a mosaic follows a fall, it does not create one.
Layout Options: Set the sheets out dry first and check the joints line through between sheets; on a mosaic that sheet-to-sheet joint is the giveaway if it drifts. The extra grout lines a 5cm chip creates are also what gives a shower floor its grip.
Cleaning: Clean with warm water and a mild cleaner. Unlike natural slate this needs no sealing and will not flake or shed.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
