Wall Tiles by Material

Ceramic Wall Tiles

Glazed ceramic gives you the widest choice of colour, crackle glazes, handmade-look surfaces, metro formats and decorative mouldings. It is especially effective on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom walls and feature panels; always check whether a particular tile has any wet-area restrictions.

Porcelain Wall Tiles

Porcelain is dense, low-porosity and available in marble, stone, concrete, wood and patterned effects. Many porcelain products are rated for both walls and floors, making them useful where a coordinated surface is required, but suitability remains product-specific.

Glass, Marble and Natural Stone Wall Tiles

Glass reflects light and works particularly well in splashbacks and decorative panels. Marble, limestone, travertine and other natural stones provide genuine variation and patina; they can require sealing and material-specific care.

Wall Tiles by Room and Application

Bathroom Wall Tiles

For showers and other direct-wet areas, confirm the tile's stated suitability and specify the correct waterproof background, adhesive and grout. Browse dedicated bathroom wall tiles for a more focused selection.

Kitchen and Splashback Tiles

Kitchen walls can take glazed ceramic, glass, porcelain, stone and mosaic finishes depending on the location. Behind hobs and sinks, check heat, cleaning and fixing requirements for the specific product. Explore splashback tiles and kitchen wall tiles.

Feature and Decorative Walls

Relief tiles, patterned ceramics, mosaics and stone can be concentrated on a single wall, alcove or fireplace surround. Sample highly reflective, textured or strongly varied surfaces before ordering because they can change markedly with viewing angle and light.

Choosing Wall Tile Size and Finish

Large Format or Small Format?

Large-format tiles create fewer grout joints and a more continuous surface; metro, mosaic and small-format tiles emphasise layout and grout. Choose scale in relation to cuts, wall dimensions and the level of pattern you want in the finished room.

Gloss, Matt, Satin and Textured Finishes

Gloss and glass reflect more light, matt and satin finishes are quieter, and relief or handmade-look surfaces introduce shadow and variation. Cleaning requirements and wet-area suitability should be checked alongside appearance.

Expert guidance

Wall tile questions, answered

Clear, practical advice from people who work with tiles every day.

What is the difference between wall tiles and floor tiles?

Wall tiles are selected for vertical installation and may be lighter or more decorative than floor-rated products. Floor tiles must also cope with foot traffic and the demands of the intended environment. Some porcelain, stone and mosaic products are rated for both walls and floors, but never infer floor suitability from appearance alone; check the product specification.

Which wall tiles can be used in bathrooms and showers?

Glazed ceramic, porcelain, glass and selected natural stone products can all work in bathrooms. Shower and wet-room suitability still depends on the individual tile, backing, adhesive and waterproofing system. Natural stone and some specialist finishes may require sealing.

How do I calculate how many wall tiles I need?

Measure each tiled wall in metres and multiply width by height to calculate square metres, then total the areas. Allow extra for cuts, breakages and future repairs; the appropriate wastage depends on tile format, pattern and room geometry. Patterned, diagonal and heavily cut layouts normally need more allowance than a simple straight lay.

Can large-format tiles be installed on walls?

Yes, where the product and substrate are suitable. Large-format tiles demand a flat, stable background and an adhesive system appropriate to the tile material, size and weight. Very large porcelain panels and natural stone should be specified and installed with particular care.

Do you offer Free Cut Samples of wall tiles?

Yes. Free Cut Samples are available across much of the range so you can compare colour, texture and finish in the actual room. For larger displays and help coordinating materials, visit our Ascot showroom.

How should I choose a wall tile finish?

Gloss and reflective finishes bounce more light; matt and satin surfaces are quieter; relief, crackle-glaze and handmade-look tiles emphasise texture and variation. Choose by room lighting, cleaning requirements and the product's stated application. Sample decorative or highly reflective finishes before committing because they can change substantially under different lighting.
