Product story

Heritage Charm: Ca' Pietra Victorian Style™ Olive Green

Immerse your home in the rich history of British design with the Victorian Style™ Olive Green Metro Tile—a ceramic brick tile that masterfully recreates the authentic look of period interiors.

Inspired by the grand tiled halls and washrooms of the Victorian era, this 7.5cm x 15cm metro tile features a deep, earthy Olive Green glaze that adds instant warmth and sophistication. The defining feature is its Crackle Glaze finish—a deliberate, crazed surface that gives the tile an aged, "living" character found in original heritage ceramics. It reflects light beautifully, creating a depth of colour that standard flat gloss tiles simply cannot match.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to seal these tiles?

The "crackle" effect is essentially a network of tiny fissures in the glaze. Without sealant, water, dirt, and grout can penetrate these fissures, causing stains. Sealing them creates an invisible barrier that protects the tile while keeping the beautiful aged look visible.

Can I use them in a shower?

Yes, they are suitable for shower walls, provided they are correctly sealed during installation and maintained periodically. However, be aware that in very wet areas, the glaze may darken slightly over time as it absorbs moisture, which is considered part of its natural charm.

Are they suitable for floors?

No, these are ceramic wall tiles. They are not durable enough for foot traffic and could crack under the weight.

What grout colour should I use?

We recommend a White or Ivory grout. Dark grouts (like charcoal) can bleed into the crackles and permanently stain the tile face if the sealer hasn't been applied perfectly.

Installation & Care Tips

⚠️ Installation & care

  • Sealing is Mandatory: Crackle glaze tiles are porous by nature. They must be sealed with a dedicated Crackle Glaze Protector (impregnator) before grouting to prevent the grout colour from bleeding into the cracks, and again after grouting to make them watertight.
  • Wet Areas: While suitable for shower walls, ensure they are thoroughly sealed. Over time, in very wet areas, some discolouration of the crackle is natural and adds to the antique patina.
  • Grout Colour: We recommend a light or neutral grout to avoid staining the crackle effect during installation. Always test a small area first.
  • Cleaning: Use pH-neutral cleaners only. Avoid harsh acidic bleach which can damage the delicate glaze.
