Product story

Elements Earth Lapis 80 x 80cm Tiles

Elements is Lapicida's Italian porcelain family, running from quarried limestone looks through earth pigments to oxidised metal, with matching skirtings so a floor can be finished properly at the wall. Shown in Earth Lapis.

At 80 x 80 x 1cm it is an easy size to set out, and the bond does the rest. Porcelain asks nothing of you afterwards — no sealing, no reaction to spills, and no restriction over underfloor heating.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main benefits of using porcelain tiles on floors and walls?

Porcelain tiles are one of the most durable and versatile tile choices available, making them ideal for both floors and walls in a wide range of interiors. At Hyperion Tiles, we often recommend porcelain for its strength, water resistance, and low maintenance qualities. Porcelain is denser than ceramic, meaning it absorbs less moisture, making it perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, and even outdoor areas. Its hard surface is resistant to scratches, stains, and general wear, so it performs particularly well in busy family homes or commercial spaces. In addition to practicality, porcelain tiles come in a wide variety of finishes—from matt stone-effects to polished marble-looks and textured concretes—allowing you to create almost any aesthetic. Whether you want a seamless look across floors and walls or contrasting textures for added depth, porcelain tiles offer long-lasting performance with premium style. They're a reliable and stylish investment for any home.

Are porcelain tiles suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?

Yes, porcelain tiles are an excellent choice for both bathrooms and kitchens, and at Hyperion Tiles we regularly recommend them for these high-moisture areas. Their extremely low water absorption rate makes them ideal for splash zones, shower walls, kitchen floors, and cooking areas. Porcelain’s durability means it can withstand steam, humidity, spills, and frequent cleaning without losing its appearance or structural integrity. In kitchens, they’re a great option for creating a clean and stylish splashback, while also handling the demands of heavy footfall and dropped utensils on the floor. In bathrooms, porcelain tiles offer the benefit of slip-resistant finishes and can be continued from the floor up onto the walls for a sleek, spa-like effect. Whether you're designing a traditional space or something more contemporary, we stock porcelain tiles in a variety of colours, patterns, and finishes to suit your chosen theme. Our team can help you select the best option for both looks and practicality.

Can porcelain tiles be used with underfloor heating systems?

Yes, porcelain tiles are highly compatible with underfloor heating systems and are one of the most efficient flooring options for conducting and retaining heat. At Hyperion Tiles, we frequently recommend porcelain floor tiles for customers planning to install underfloor heating, whether electric or water-based. Porcelain’s dense structure allows heat to transfer quickly and evenly across the surface, making the space warm and comfortable underfoot. For best results, it’s important to use a flexible adhesive and grout that can accommodate minor expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes. The subfloor must also be properly prepared and level to ensure even heat distribution and to prevent any cracking over time. Many of our porcelain tiles are specifically rated for use with underfloor heating, and our expert team is always available to guide you through product selection and installation tips. Combining underfloor heating with porcelain tiles gives you both luxury and energy efficiency in any room.

How do I maintain and clean porcelain floor and wall tiles?

Porcelain tiles are incredibly low maintenance, which makes them a practical choice for busy homes and commercial environments alike. At Hyperion Tiles, we recommend regular sweeping or vacuuming of floor tiles to remove dust and debris, followed by mopping with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Wall tiles can be wiped down with a damp cloth and the same gentle cleaner. Because porcelain is non-porous and highly stain-resistant, it does not require sealing like natural stone or traditional encaustic tiles. This makes ongoing care simple and cost-effective. For tougher grime or greasy splashbacks in kitchens, warm water and a non-abrasive sponge usually do the trick. Avoid harsh acidic or bleach-based products, especially on polished finishes, as they can dull the surface over time. With just basic cleaning, porcelain tiles will retain their original appearance for many years. Our team can also recommend tile-specific cleaning products for best results based on your chosen finish.
