Description

Midnight Aurora: Aurora Borealis Dark Silver Decorative Glass

A deeper, moodier rainbow-lustre feature tile, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

A darker interpretation of the Aurora Borealis effect, this tile pairs a smoky silver ground with the same shifting, iridescent rainbow lustre. The result is dramatic and contemporary, ideal for a bolder scheme.

As the light changes, veils of colour drift across the surface. Each 60 x 30cm tile is non-porous and wipe-clean, a striking choice for shower walls, splashbacks and feature panels.

The Hyperion Family Promise

  • Design Continuity: part of our curated Decorative Glass collection, so feature walls, splashbacks and borders can be composed to sit together beautifully.
  • Premium Durability: toughened decorative glass with a non-porous, wipe-clean face that keeps its lustre for years.

  • Personalised Project Support: sold per tile, each covering 0.18m² — our team will happily help you calculate quantities.

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Non-porous & wipe-clean: glass never needs sealing — a soft cloth and mild detergent keep it gleaming. Ideal for kitchen splashbacks, shower enclosures, bathroom walls and other wet areas.
  • Use a WHITE adhesive: always fix with a white glass tile adhesive. Standard grey adhesive shows through the glass and dulls the decorative effect.
  • Mind the edges: take care with cut and exposed edges — finish borders with a suitable trim or neat grouting for a clean line.
  • Dry-lay first: loose-lay a few tiles to balance the reflective, hand-made character across the wall before fixing.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Are decorative glass panels sold as single pieces?

Yes. These are statement panels rather than a field tile you buy by the square metre, and they are priced and supplied individually.

Most people use a small number of them — a single panel as a feature, a run above a vanity, or a band set into a plainer field tile. If you are planning a full wall, tell us the area and we will confirm exactly how many pieces you need and what the lead time looks like.

Will every panel look identical?

No. The decorative surface on these panels is applied by hand, so the pattern, density and metallic tone shift slightly from piece to piece.

That variation is intended and it is what stops a decorative wall looking printed or mechanical. If you are ordering several panels, we suggest laying them out and arranging them to your eye before fixing, so any stronger or lighter pieces are distributed evenly.

Where should decorative glass panels be used?

They are at their best where they are seen and lit — a feature wall, an alcove, a fireplace surround, a bar back, or above a basin. Directional or grazing light is what brings out the leafing and texture.

We would avoid using them across a whole large room, where the effect can become overwhelming, and avoid shower enclosures unless we have confirmed the specific panel is rated for constant water contact.

How are decorative glass panels fixed and cut?

Fix with a white, neutral-cure adhesive suitable for glass and for the decorative backing. Grey adhesive will read through the panel and flatten the colour.

We strongly recommend against cutting these panels on site. The decorative layer chips easily and a cut edge is very difficult to disguise. Plan the layout around full panels, and speak to us before ordering if the area does not divide neatly.

How many panels of this size do I need per square metre?

At 600 x 300 x 6mm, each panel covers roughly 0.18m², which works out at about 5.56 panels per square metre.

To work out your order: multiply the height by the width of each area you are tiling to get the total square metres, multiply that figure by 5.56, then round up to the nearest full panel. Add 10% on top for cuts and breakages.

If you would rather not do the sums, send us the dimensions of your space and we will confirm the quantity — and if you are close to a box quantity we will tell you, as it is often cheaper to take the full box. Free cut samples are available, and you are welcome to see the range in our Ascot showroom.
