Blue is the only colour a bathroom takes without needing an argument for it. Three hundred and fifty-seven here, 333 of them properly blue rather than blue-ish, running from a pale washed grey-blue through to ink and navy.

The practical split

Two hundred and fifteen are glazed ceramic — wall tiles, and the deepest colours in the range, because a ceramic glaze holds a saturated blue that porcelain body colour cannot. Seventy-eight are porcelain, which is where the 91 floor-rated options sit. Sixty-seven are glass, almost all mosaic, and they are the ones that do something in a shower: light passes into the glass and back out, so the colour shifts through the day.

Finish, and how dark to go

One hundred and sixty-two are gloss, 102 satin, 40 matt. In a small bathroom a gloss mid-blue will give you back most of the light a dark colour takes away; a matt navy will not, and needs to be a decision rather than an accident. The 145 tiles in the 12–25cm bracket — metro, brick, square — are where most bathroom schemes here start, with 40 mosaic sheets for niches and trays and 25 extra-large formats for a near-seamless wall.

Blue is the colour most affected by artificial light. Order two or three cut samples and look at them in the evening as well as the morning. Samples are free; postage is £4.99 and is refunded on tile orders over £50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are blue bathroom tiles suitable for small bathrooms?

Yes, blue bathroom tiles work beautifully in small bathrooms, especially when you choose the right shade and finish to bring tranquillity to your space.

  • Shades: Light to mid-toned blues, such as powder blue, duck egg, or sky blue, can help make a compact bathroom feel more open and inviting by reflecting light, especially when used in a gloss finish.
  • Format: Larger-format blue tiles on the walls or floors means fewer grout lines, helping create a spacious appearance.
  • Layout: If you're working with a particularly tight layout, incorporating vertical tile arrangements or laying tiles diagonally can further enhance the feeling of depth and height.
  • Design elements: Blue mosaic tiles can also be used sparingly in small bathrooms to add decorative accents to highlight niches and shelving.

At Hyperion Tiles, we stock blue tiles in various sizes and finishes suited to smaller spaces. Our team can also provide advice on layout and colour pairing to help ensure your bathroom feels balanced, comfortable and stylish, no matter its size.

Can blue tiles be used on both bathroom walls and floors?

Yes, blue tiles can be used effectively on both the walls and the floor of a bathroom, creating a cohesive and visually striking look. Using the same or complementary shades of blue across different surfaces creates a sense of flow and unity throughout the room.

For walls, lighter or mid-blue tiles often work well to brighten the space and reflect light, while darker blues can add depth and drama when used as feature panels or statement areas.

On the floor, blue tiles offer a unique and sophisticated alternative to traditional neutrals, especially when paired with white fixtures or natural accents like wood and stone.

You can always mix textures or finishes to add contrast while keeping the colour palette consistent. For example, use a matt tile on the floor and a gloss version on the wall.

What colours work best with blue bathroom tiles?

Blue bathroom tiles are highly versatile and pair well with a wide variety of other colours and materials, making it easy to create a design scheme that feels tailored to your tastes.

  • White: Creates a fresh, classic coastal or spa-inspired feel that reflects natural light and opens up smaller bathrooms or en-suites.
  • Cream: A soft, neutral and softer alternative to white that brings warmth while still keeping the space feeling light and airy.
  • Soft grey: Pairs beautifully with blue for a calm, contemporary palette that's gentle on the eye.
  • Charcoal: Adds contrast and a more dramatic, luxurious finish when paired with deeper blue tones.
  • Black: Works very well as matte black fixtures against dark blue tiles, adding a bold, modern edge. It’s ideal for half-height walls, splashbacks or a herringbone or stacked layout that brings extra texture.
  • Navy: Layering tonal blues, including navy, creates visual depth and impact without introducing a new colour family.
  • Gold: A metallic accent that adds warmth and elegance, particularly through brassware and fittings.
  • Brass: Lends a traditional or vintage character to the scheme.
  • Copper: Brings a softer, warmer metallic tone that pairs well with both light and dark blues.
  • Wood tones: Introduce organic texture and balance, softening the coolness of blue with natural warmth.
  • Stone tones: Pair effortlessly with blue to add texture and a more grounded, natural feel.
  • Hues of pink: Used sparingly alongside natural elements like wood, this unexpected combination adds a fresh, on-trend quality to a modern bathroom.

Whether you're going for something modern, traditional or eclectic, blue provides a calm foundation that can be easily dressed up or toned down.

Are blue bathroom tiles available in different styles and textures?

Yes, our blue bathroom tiles for sale include a wide variety of styles, textures and finishes to suit all design preferences.

Consider choosing premium materials, such as:

  • Porcelain: Durable, low-maintenance blue tiles ideal for bathroom walls and floors, available in matt, polished and textured finishes.
  • Ceramic: Versatile and affordable blue tiles that work beautifully on walls, with a broad choice of colours, patterns and surface textures.
  • Marble: Blue marble tiles featuring unique veining for a luxury spa interior.
  • Terracotta: Characterful tiles with a handcrafted appearance, perfect for creating a warm, Mediterranean-inspired bathroom design.
  • Travertine: Natural stone tiles with subtle texture and organic variation, bringing timeless appeal and spa-like tranquillity.
  • Mosaic: Small-format blue tiles that create detailed designs, feature walls, shower enclosures and decorative accents.

Modern or retro, we have the perfect style of blue tiles for your bathroom:

  • Victorian: Heritage-inspired tiles that combine classic blue tones with traditional patterns for period-style bathrooms.
  • Patterned: Decorative blue tiles that introduce colour, personality and visual interest to floors, walls and splashbacks.
  • Metro: Timeless rectangular tiles that create a clean, coastal or contemporary aesthetic, especially when laid in brick bond or herringbone patterns.
  • Hexagon: Geometric blue tiles that add an architectural feel and create eye-catching floor or wall designs.
  • Herringbone: A classic laying pattern that adds movement and visual depth to bathroom surfaces.
  • Chequerboard: Classic blue-and-white combinations that make a statement while retaining timeless appeal.
  • Zellige: Handcrafted wall tiles with gorgeous irregular surfaces and tonal variation, adding depth, texture and artisan charm.
How do I keep blue bathroom tiles looking clean and fresh?

Start by wiping down surfaces with a soft cloth or sponge and a pH-neutral bathroom cleaner to remove soap residue, water marks and any product build-up.

For floor tiles, regular sweeping or vacuuming followed by mopping with warm water and a mild detergent will keep the area looking tidy.

Because blue tiles, particularly darker shades, can sometimes show water spots or limescale, it’s helpful to dry surfaces after use where possible. Using a grout protector or sealer can help prevent discolouration in grout lines over time.

Are blue tiles suitable for bathrooms with underfloor heating?

Yes, many blue bathroom tiles are compatible with underfloor heating. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are widely used for underfloor heating installations because they conduct heat efficiently, allowing warmth to transfer evenly across the floor.

Natural stone options, including marble-effect and certain stone-look tiles, can also work well when installed in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.

When selecting tiles, it's important to consider the type of heating system being used, as well as factors such as tile thickness and floor build-up height. Larger tiles are often chosen for heated floors because they create a clean, contemporary appearance while helping to distribute heat more evenly.
