Woodpecker Berkeley Flooring

Woodpecker Berkeley: The Hand-Worked Extra Rustic Floor

Experience the extraordinary character of Woodpecker Berkeley, a range of aged engineered wood flooring defined by its painstakingly hand-worked textures. Unlike standard smooth boards, Berkeley planks are meticulously hand-scraped and distressed to create unique undulating ridges and grooves that capture a truly historic feel.

With a massive 4mm real wood wear layer and a high-stability plywood core, these wide planks are built to last a lifetime. Choose from the golden warmth of Oak Hamstead, the coastal charm of White Oak, or the rich, dramatic depths of Burnt Oak.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an "Extra Rustic" grade?

The Berkeley collection features an extra rustic grade, which means the wood includes an almost endless variety of knots, splits, and color variations. These traits are intentionally preserved to give the floor an aged, antique character that looks centuries old.

Is Berkeley flooring compatible with underfloor heating?

Most Berkeley oak and walnut floors are suitable for underfloor heating. However, please note that Berkeley Century Pine is not recommended for use with underfloor heating systems. If you need a stone look with heating compatibility, our Terrazzo LVT is a great alternative.

What does the 100-year warranty cover?

Woodpecker offers a 100-year warranty on the Berkeley range, reflecting the incredible durability of the 4mm wear layer and stable plywood core. This ensures your investment is protected for generations when installed and maintained correctly.

How do I maintain my Berkeley wood floor?

Maintenance depends on the finish. Oiled floors can be spot-repaired if scratched, while urethane finishes offer a tough, protective shield against heavy traffic. For daily cleaning, a simple sweep and a well-wrung damp mop are all you need—avoiding the excessive water usage often allowed with Marble Effect LVT.

Can I install this myself?

While Berkeley engineered wood is designed for stability, we recommend professional installation to ensure the hand-worked planks are laid perfectly to showcase their unique texture. If you are looking for a DIY-friendly click-lock system, our Herringbone LVT collection is an excellent alternative.

Why Choose the Woodpecker Berkeley Collection?

The Woodpecker Berkeley Collection is the ultimate choice for those who appreciate the raw beauty of natural timber. Unlike standard flooring, the Berkeley range celebrates nature’s "imperfections" with an extra-rustic grade that features large knots, cracks, and varied filler for a truly antique feel.

Hand-Finished Texture & Wide Planks
Every board in this collection is hand-worked to enhance its grain structure. The wide-plank format is designed to "stretch the eye," making even smaller rooms appear more spacious and grand. If you love the look of real timber but require the waterproof benefits of modern materials for a bathroom or kitchen, you may also want to explore our Wood Planks LVT range.

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly
At Hyperion Tiles, we care about the planet. All Berkeley wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests and carries full FSC certification. This ensures your home is styled with premium oak, walnut, or pine that supports global sustainability. For high-traffic areas where durability is the top priority, these engineered planks offer a robust alternative to traditional Vinyl Tiles.

A Finish for Every Style
Choose from a variety of professional finishes to suit your lifestyle:

  • Oiled: Enhances the natural grain with a muted matte look.
  • Hardwax Oil: Protects against water and dirt while enriching golden tones.
  • Urethane: Provides a highly abrasive-resistant shine, perfect for hallways and busy living spaces.
