Marble Floor Tiles

Marble Floor Tiles

Luxury marble floor tiles in genuine natural stone and marble-effect porcelain — from white Carrara to dramatic dark marbles. Marble flooring brings light, elegance and a sense of calm luxury to hallways, kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces.

Honed (matt) marble offers better underfoot grip and a contemporary look that is ideal for floors, while marble-effect porcelain delivers the same veining with a fully waterproof, no-seal finish. As a natural stone, genuine marble should be sealed. Samples are available, with expert advice from our Ascot showroom.

Marble Floor Tiles — Frequently Asked Questions

Can marble be used on floors?
Yes — marble makes a beautiful, hard-wearing floor, with honed (matt) marble especially well suited thanks to its better grip. As a natural stone it should be sealed to protect against stains and moisture.

Should I choose real marble or marble-effect porcelain for a floor?
Marble-effect porcelain is more practical for high-traffic and wet areas — waterproof, scratch-resistant and no sealing. Genuine marble offers unmatched natural depth and one-of-a-kind veining. We stock both.

Does marble flooring need sealing?
Genuine marble is porous and should be sealed on installation and periodically afterwards. Marble-effect porcelain needs no sealing at all.

Is a marble floor slippery?
Honed marble offers more grip than polished; for bathrooms and other wet areas, choose a honed or textured finish and check the slip rating.

Can I see marble floor tiles in person?
You are very welcome to visit our Ascot showroom, and samples are available so you can see the veining and finish before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are marble floor tiles a good choice for floors?

Yes. Marble is hardwearing and, properly sealed and maintained, lasts for decades. For very high-traffic areas or low-maintenance needs, marble-effect porcelain is a practical alternative.

Do marble floor tiles need sealing?

Natural marble is porous and should be sealed with an impregnating sealer on installation and periodically afterwards. Marble-effect porcelain is non-porous and never needs sealing.

Are marble floors slippery?

Polished marble can be slippery when wet. For bathrooms and busy areas we recommend a honed or tumbled finish, which offers more grip while keeping the elegant look.

Can marble floor tiles be used with underfloor heating?

Yes. Marble conducts heat very well and feels wonderful underfoot with underfloor heating, fitted with a flexible adhesive and grout.

What is the difference between marble and marble-effect tiles?

Marble is genuine natural stone with unrepeatable veining; it is porous and needs sealing. Marble-effect porcelain reproduces the look on a non-porous, stain-resistant tile that needs no sealing.

Do you offer samples of marble floor tiles?

Yes. We offer free cut samples so you can see the veining, tone and finish in your own light, or visit our Ascot showroom to view the full collection in person.

Marble Floor Tiles

Marble floor tiles are the oldest shorthand for luxury there is, a material that has carried the floors of palaces and grand hallways for centuries. Our collection is built around genuine natural stone, each tile carrying veining no two pieces share, from the crisp grey-on-white of Carrara to the deeper drama of green and charcoal marbles. If you love the look but want a lower-maintenance, fully waterproof alternative, our marble effect floor tiles recreate the same veining in porcelain.

Where marble floor tiles work best

Hallways and entrances. Nothing sets a tone like a marble floor at the threshold; a chequerboard of two marbles is a timeless way to make an entrance.

Bathrooms. Marble brings a spa-like calm, whether book-matched on the floor or run up the walls. Natural stone should be sealed and an appropriate finish chosen for wet areas.

Kitchens. A marble floor lends warmth and gravitas; honed finishes are more forgiving than polished underfoot. For high-traffic family kitchens, the porcelain alternative is worth considering.

Living and commercial spaces. Large-format marble keeps grout lines minimal for an expansive, seamless feel, a favourite of interior designers.

Styling ideas

  • Classic white marble in Carrara and Calacatta tones creates a light, elegant, gallery-like floor.
  • Dark and dramatic deep green, charcoal and near-black marbles make a confident statement; pair with brass and warm timber.
  • Chequerboard two contrasting marbles laid in a grid is the enduring hallway classic.
  • Borders and detail frame a floor or zone a room with a marble mosaic border for a bespoke finish.

Finishes change the mood: polished reflects light and reads formal; honed gives a soft, matt look with better grip; tumbled brings a worn, characterful warmth.

Natural marble or marble-effect porcelain?

Genuine marble is the real thing, with unrepeatable veining and genuine provenance, but it is porous, needs sealing and is more reactive to acids. Marble-effect porcelain reproduces the veining on a non-porous, stain-resistant, virtually maintenance-free tile that never needs sealing. If you want the look with minimal upkeep, see our marble effect floor tiles.

Installation and care

  • Sealing. Natural marble is porous and should be sealed with an impregnating sealer on installation and periodically afterwards.
  • Subfloor and adhesive. Surfaces must be clean, dry, level and stable; use a quality flexible adhesive, particularly for large formats and over underfloor heating.
  • Finish and slip. Honed and tumbled finishes offer more grip than polished, worth considering for bathrooms and busy areas.
  • Underfloor heating. Marble conducts heat beautifully and is fully UFH-compatible.
  • Cleaning. Use a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid acidic products such as vinegar and citrus, which can etch the surface.

Technical specifications

  • Material: Genuine natural marble, with marble-effect porcelain available as an alternative.
  • Finishes: Polished, honed and tumbled (varies by range).
  • Formats: Standard squares, large-format and mosaic, range-dependent.
  • Porosity: Natural marble is porous and requires sealing; porcelain alternatives are non-porous.
  • Underfloor heating: Compatible.
